Frosh/Soph: Leek leads  LJ girls Edwards, Graves, Kraemer also win

The annual Frosh/Soph meet is a good chance for young runners to strut their stuff on the established CIF courses at Morley Field. Judging by this year's results, many of the city's good young runners are in the Western League. La Jolla's girls were well represented.  Soph Desiree Leek had the fastest girls time of the day, 15:53 on the 2.5-mile CIF course.  The Vikings' number two runner, Liz Edwards, won by a huge margin in the frosh race, clocking 16:11, which was 0:48 seconds of second place. La Jolla also had two other girls in the ten fastest of the day. Mission Bay's boys showed well, with Justin Graves winning the soph race in 17:02 on the CIF course.  Bucs also took second and fourth in the frosh race. Army Navy's Will Kraemer won the frosh race in a good 17:21, with a 0:34 second margin. The girls soph race had the best quality field in the meet.  Second place Kaili Shumilak of Bishop's ran 16:01, and Morse soph Amonica Phipps ran 16:06 in third.  Tenth place in the race was 16:45.

        At Morley Field, Friday, October 30.  Conditions:  Excellent running temperature.  Both races were run on the estalbished CIF courses.
