1999 Cross Country LEAGUE OF THE YEAR

The Palomar League:
On the boys side, they had Poway (3rd in the state final), Mt. Carmel (CIF champ and 5th in the state final), Vista (arguably as good as either of those teams), and two other locally ranked teams
(Rancho Bernardo and San Marcos. In the state Division I individual race, the Palomar League went 1-5-7, with Travis Laird, Sean Ricketts and Justin Neuroth.

On the girls side, Rancho Bernardo was second in the state Division I final, and Mt. Carmel was top-five quality until they came up with top runners on the sicklist at the CIF meet. Top individuals
at state included Julie Manson (18:31), Allison Hall (18:39), Nicole Mier (18:47), Kaleena Yee (18:58) and Ashlee Dere (19:07). Torrey Pines will be added to the mix next year.

HONORABLE MENTION
Avocado League girls:
Included excellent teams from Carlsbad, Torrey Pines and Fallbrook, and a number of excellent individuals led by Julie Komosinski.

Western League:
On the boys side, had excellent teams from La Jolla, Scripps Ranch and St. Augustine. Three teams won CIF titles, including La Jolla in II, University of San Diego in III, and St. Augustine in IV.

On the girls side, La Jolla won the CIF II title, with University City as runner-up, and Academy of Our Lady of Peace won the CIF D-III title.

Valley League boys:
Very good teams from Ramona, San Pasqual, Valley Center, and Escondido, and a number of excellent individuals led by Matt McInvale.
