Format for the CIF championships and
State Meet qualifying
May 19th (Friday): Girls CIF Prelims at Balboa for both divisions.
Running events:
There will be 3 heats of nine runners for each division (six heats/event). D-1 and D-2 athletes will not compete against one another. Nine runners from each division will advance to the CIF finals on May 27th. At the finals there will be an "A" heat composed of the nine fastest runners from all heats (Combined D-1 and D-2). The "B" heat will be composed of the nine slower runners. As implied, advancement to the finals and placement in the heats ("A" or "B") will be determined by time only. Winning a heat will not guarantee advancement. There will be prelims in the 3200.
Field Events:
Field events will be run in a similar fashion (A and B heats) but because the top 9 marks must be ascertained the events will be run to completion.

May 20th (Saturday): Boys Prelims at Balboa for both divisions.
Same format as above.

May 27th (Sat. at Poway): Combined D-1, D-2 and State qualifications:
Since the "A" and "B" heats will contain both D-1 and D-2 athletes Divisional Championships will be determined by marks. State qualifiers will come from the top 3 athletes in each event's "A" heat only, even in the event of a better mark from the "B" heat.
