* "RunScored" results from the 2008 San Diego Section CIF Cross Country Finals

Track Mag      Message Board

The "results" below are the 2008 CIF finals with seniors removed, the grade levels incremented, and 2009 division
structure applied.
The 2nd column, TmPl, is the finish position for team scoring. If a school didn't finish a full team their finishers don't
get a TmPl.

These results were updated on Aug 26th 2009 because of division changes that were made since they were first put-up.
Three schools were moved from D4 to D3: High Tech High, Santana and Olympian.
Two schools were moved from D3 to D2: Mar Vista and San Marcos
Bonita Vista was moved from D2 to D1.

I also fixed some name spellings that got messed-up when I updated the grade levels.
In the team results I added the 2009 graded levels.

D1 Girls
D2 Girls
D3 Girls
D4 Girls
D5 Girls
D1 Boys
D2 Boys
D3 Boys
D4 Boys
D5 Boys

If more than 2 runners were lost after seniors were removed a team doesn't show up in the team scores because their finishers
dropped below the required 5. The team results below show just the team scores for 4 finishers and for 3 finishers.

Boys team scores using 4 finishers
Girls team scores using 4 finishers
Boys team scores using 3 finishers
Girls team scores using 3 finishers

You can find the 2008 and 2009 division structure on the CIF site HERE.

* Here's how it's done.
RunScore is far and above the best CC, Road Race Tri and Bi-athlon program available at any price.
To produce these results I exported last year's CIF finals results from RunScore to Excel as a "csv" file.
In Excel I deleted the seniors, incremented the grade levels and changed the divisions to match this year's structure.
Then I sorted all finishers, boys and girls, by time as if everyone ran in one giant co-ed race.
Next I saved the bib number order from this mega race to a simple text file with one bib number per line.
I did the same for the times.
In RunScore I deleated the database and loaded the new one with the changes.
Then I set-up just one race and imported the bib number order and times from the two text files created above.
This mega-race has all divisions and both boys and girls.
Now what's cool about RunScore is you can pick and choose from among the various database fields to look at a race any way you want.
For D1 boys, for example, I simply tell RunScore to show me how the mega race would look considering only D1 boys .. it's that simple.
Any fields can be selected so it'd be just as easy to tell RunScore to show D2 Soph and Junior girls only.
This really comes in handy for league finals where you sometimes need to make-up dual meets. It's very easy, in addition to the normal report, to output the result between two teams.
I use Runscore for the Mt. Carmel Invite, Saints Small School Invite and CIF finals to name just a few.
For Mt. Carmel, I tell it to combine all the individual age group races and get a combined set of results immediately after the last race.
For the Saints Small School Invite there is only one Varsity race with three divisions so I program it to spit out results by division as well as overall.
For the CIF finals, it outputs the results with state qualifiers flagged for both team and individuals and produces a file of advancers that can be sent directly to the State CIF folks.
What program do they use at State? You guessed it, RunScore.
In fact, I can set-up any fields I want..... Any info that's collectable can specify the results... your hair color, where you were born, T-shirt size.
This is a big stretch but if I collected the info I could produce results for D3 Soph blonde girls who were born in either Escondido or Poway and wear a small T-shirt :-)
All of the combined results you see on Track Magazine are done with this program.
