No seniors:

The following material is a listing of state meet places by San Diego Section runners if seniors are deleted from the state meet results.

Such a method can often be used as a relatively accurate predictor of boys race results. We didn't use the method as a predictor for future girls results, because the improvement curve of young girl runners can be very unpredictable.

BOYS:

Division I:
4. Mike Baskin, Mt. Carmel, 11
7. Jason Finch, Granite Hills, 10
11. Mike Helms, Poway, 11
13. Sean Ricketts, Rancho Bernardo, 9
14. Matt Gailey, Poway, 11
15. Jeff Sleichter, Mt. Carmel, 11
16. Burt Romero, Mt. Carmel, 11
22. Brian Paff, Bonita Vista, 10
35. Josh Pope, Poway, 9
38. John Zanzucchi, Mt. Carmel, 11
52. Scott Bachman, Mt. Carmel, 11

(NOTE: Mt. Carmel's entire team (5th at state) returns and should be a top contender at state next year. Poway (2nd at state) will return enough quality runners, or they will have replacements ready to move right in, and they should be comparable in quality to Mt. Carmel.)

DivisionII:

6. Dustin Diaz, West Hills, 11
7. Reed Steel, Carlsbad, 11
18. Jon Doroski, Valhalla, 11
21. Evan Fox, West Hills, 9
26. Don Overland-McKay, West Hills, 11
37. David Romero-Young, El Camino, 11

(NOTE: Section's best team, West Hills, returns ace Dustin Diaz plus most of their pack, and they could be a factor at state next year. Some of their best runners were sophs and a frosh.)

Division III:

5. Marcus Chandler, Serra, 10
7. Marice Chandler, Serra, 10
18. Fernando Corona, Mar Vista, 11
35. Matt McInvale, Ramona, 9

(NOTE: Section's best team, Ramona, will be rebuilding. If Serra gets some support for their top guns, they could be tough.)

Division IV:

8. Adam Greene, St. Augustine, 11
10. Brian Sullivan, St. Augustine, 11
28. Juan Torres, Clairemont, 11
33. Alfonso Espinoza, St. Augustine, 10
38. Juan Padilla, Clairemont, 11

(NOTE: This should be a good year for St. Augustine, the section's best Div. IV team. They return big two up front, and most of their pack should improve.)

Division V:

3. Miguel Ramirez, Holtville, 11
19. Robert-John Gonzalez, Holtville, 10
26. Jose Gallegos, Holtville, 10
27. Bart Conner, Calvin Christian, 10
30. Andres Medina, Holtville, 10

(NOTE: Holtville (second in state) should be tougher next year. They will just have to replace one of their pack runners, and the state meet experience gained this year will help. Still, they'll have hands full trying to close gap on McFarland. Coach says they have some talented new runners on way.)
