Let me formally introduce myself. I am the assistant cross country coach at Concordia University in Irvine, California. Since your website has proven to be a valuable recruiting resource, let me be the first to start off your "Where they are Going" section. Currently, we have two San Diego athletes on our team. Tricia Mattson (Fallbrook HS) signed with us last year and was our #1 runner this past season. In addition, we have recently added Cara Rumble (Orange Glen HS) to our team. Orange Glen’s Cara Rumble Signs with Concordia University

IRVINE—Orange Glen High School cross country runner Cara Rumble has signed a letter of intent with Concordia University in Irvine, California.

Rumble, a 11:27 - 3200 meter runner, will receive an athletic/academic scholarship to run cross country and track for the private university located in Southern California. She also considered University California, Irvine and Santa Barbara and the University Nevada Las Vegas.

At Concordia University, Rumble will receive world-class coaching under the guidance of 1984 Olympian and former world-record holder Joan Hansen and joins Fallbrook’s Tricia Mattson, who as a freshman this year qualified for NAIA Nationals in both Cross Country and Track. Rumble’s track focus will be the 3000/5000 meter events. "Cara displays qualities that every coach would absolutely appreciate: a gifted student/athlete who demonstrates both a great attitude and outstanding leadership abilities" said Coach Hansen.

This past Fall, Rumble finished in fifteenth place at the California State Division I Cross Country Championships and led Orange Glen High School to a first place finish in the Palomar League team title. In addition, she is looking to improve her finish in the 3200 meters at the CIF San Diego sectional.

Rumble, who has earned numerous academic honors in addition to her athletic accomplishments, is a 3.8 honor roll student and a member of the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic team the past two years. She is planning on majoring in pre-medicine or biology at Concordia University.
